Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to reclaim the urn once the opening games are done.

The Disappointed Travelers

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are a prime example.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their flights and tickets secured for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "well ahead of time", dreaming of a long-awaited triumph.

"People in the office has been teasing me that the series is done for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"We always thought that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

"We'll enjoy having Christmas and New Year overseas. This will be mine and Rory's first time away from home over Christmas."

An educator, Katie is determined to make the most of the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her Christmas holidays.

"If all else fails, there's always golf to turn to," she added.
